Douglas Park from Seghill was 17 on the 11th of March. A regular at the Under 17 Club training every 2weeks. He did his Theory test on 13th of March passing with high marks.
We arranged his lessons on the road and it was obvious from the start he was going to do well. I booked his test for the earliest possible date, which was the 1st of May just 7weeks and 2 days after his 17th birthday.
I sat in the back of the car to observe the test and watched as Douglas performed like an experienced driver. He of course passed with flying colours.
It was particularly good to see the examiners response after the test. He was amazed at how young Douglas was in relation to how well he had driven. He asked me to explain and I pointed out that Douglas had been learning to drive off road at the Under 17 Club and developed his skills prior to going on the road. He has had no intensive course simply training twice a week over the 7weeks.
Douglas is a testament to the value of the Under 17 Club, and we are all proud of him.
