With a birthday treat and a venture into the unknown for one of the students we had an interesting mix.
3 Guys with different circumstances pulled together an outstanding session.
First David, bringing experience to the group. confident, assured, always willing to get involved. Often did the demonstrations. Top notch.
Then there was Jack our birthday boy, quietly focused, listened and applied the learning to a very accurate level for a first course. He was quite something.
Then we had Matt the youngest of the trio. Watched carefully, trying things, never afraid to have a go. Again a surprising level of accuracy for a first session. No matter what I showed him, he just went for it and pulled it off.
What makes it all so amazing, is Matt is Profoundly Deaf. Whilst each of the guys were impressive in their own right and a delight to teach. Matt's performance was outstanding, when you consider the fact he could not hear a word I said. He did it all based on some agreed hand signals and viewing diagrams.
I wish to thank all three of them for making it so enjoyable for me. Each new challenge in teaching has always brought out the best in me. I am constantly reminded how lucky I am to have a role I love.
